In terms of powertrain, Leopard 8 uses a 2.0T DMO longitudinal hybrid engine, a longitudinal EHS assembly (with integrated front differential lock) and a rear-drive motor assembly (with integrated rear differential lock). The system has a total power of 550kW and a maximum torque of 760N·m, which can generate nearly 750Ps of power. Such data brings an acceleration capability of 4.8 seconds from 0 to 100 kilometers and an ultra-long comprehensive endurance of 1,200km.
The first feeling of actually driving the Leopard 8 is that the sitting position is very comfortable, but the field of vision of the whole vehicle needs some adaptation, especially for users who have little experience in driving medium and large SUVs. They will naturally feel a sense of fear when they first come into contact with it. However, when the car is started, the Leopard 8 does not seem very large. Instead, it feels a size smaller, which makes it very easy to drive at low speeds.
When accelerating during the common mid-course cruising, although the Leopard 8 has the ability to accelerate within 5 seconds, its response to power requests is actually relatively gentle. Even when accelerating at almost full throttle, the front of the Leopard 8 is slightly raised, and then the surging power is output, giving a sense of calmness that "moisturizes things silently".
In order to cope with special off-road conditions, the Leopard 8 adopts a non-load-bearing body structure with a beam. At the same time, the bottom of the DMO-specific double-layer battery pack is also equipped with a 30% high-strength protective plate. However, based on the "electric-based" characteristics of the DMO platform, the Leopard 8 does not have a traditional drive shaft, and the central differential lock is replaced with an electronic center lock, which can quickly and accurately sense the road surface under complex road conditions, thereby making precise power distribution.
Another highlight of Leopard 8 is that it is equipped with a full-function version of Yunnian-P intelligent hydraulic body control system. The hydraulic suspension has an adjustment stroke of 140mm, a minimum ground clearance of 220mm, and a lifting height of 310mm. The suspension system also supports automatic height adjustment according to vehicle speed/driving mode, as well as three-level stiffness adjustment, active damping continuous adjustment, etc., which are mainly used to deal with height limit poles, outdoor obstacle avoidance, wading and other scenes.
